High demand for imposition of President’s rule in Punjab by some, including Mayawati, saying law and order has broken down in Punjab. Others saying move was to vitiate atmosphere in the state. As of May 5, speaker forced to adjourn the session till 2pm. As of May 10, with the police saying that the victim is lying and Punjab CM in a bind, the case has all but turned into a Nirbhay rerun. 2. Islamic militants attack on US soil-
 FBI shot down one of the shooters at a formerly held Sunday exhibit with cartoons of Prophet Muhammed as he and his accomplice attempted to storm another venue hosting an anti-muslim event in a Dallas Suburb. Identified as Elton Simpson (age 31) and Nadir Soofi (shot dead, age 34), who shared an apartment in phoenix Arizona. And in court records seen by AFP, Simpson was sentenced to 3 years’ probation in 2011 after FBI agents presented a court with taped conversations between him and an informant discussing travelling to Somalia to join “their brothers” waging holy war.

 

3. Modi announces visit to China –
What we know as of the present time is that Xi Jinping thinks the visit will help cement ties. Modi has also expressly remarked that it will bring strength and stability to relations between both countries with the focus of the visit being on attracting investments. He is taking three ministers. Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel, her counterpart from Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis and Karnataka’s Siddaramaiah will not be official part of the Prime Minister’s entourage but will travel separately to be in Beijing when Modi reaches there, sources said on Friday.

 

4. France and Qatar  signed a 6.3 billion euro ($7.02 billion) deal on Monday for the sale of 24 Rafale fighter jets, an accord President Francois Hollande hailed as a mark of Gulf Arab regard for French regional strategy including its firm line on Iran. Rafale jets also sold to Egypt and India – also includes MBDA missiles, and the training of 36 Qatari pilots and 100 technicians by the French military. “Good choice,” said Hollande. “France there for it’s allies”

5. Abuja –

As the struggle against militants continues, Borno State Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, has expressed concerned over the alleged massive impregnating of women by members of  Boko Haram sect.

The governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Isa Gusau, said the deliberate rape of women by the terrorists was a marshal agenda of getting the women impregnated so that they would give birth to future insurgents.

“From studies of practices associated with the insurgents, there is a general belief amongst them that whoever doesn’t share their ideology is an infidel and as such his wife and property can be freely acquired by the sect members with the wives serving as slaves that should satisfy sexual urge of their masters,” the governor said.

The reelected Prime Minister has agreed to meet the powerful 1922 Committee his cabinet reshuffle edges towards completion, which included the sensational demotion of Chris Grayling from Justice Secretary to Leader of the House of Commons. Michael Gove replaces him, meaning Mr Cameron has now twice gone against the convention of making a lawyer Lord Chancellor.
